This was such an intriguing story! The stingray was in a tank of sharks, and somehow got pregnant! It made national headlines, even had a skit on SNL... was this immaculate conception, or knocked up by a shark and birthing a whole new species?!

She was in an aquarium in Hendersonville, "Aquarium & Shark Lab by Team ECCO." It turned out that they don't have vets on staff, but they consulted with one in in another country (Australia?) who confirmed that, yes, she was definitely pregnant.

But months and months went by, with no babies.

Speculation started... it turns out that this "lab" is more of a store. Was it all a big hoax to drive people to their store?

Well, confirmed today... Charlotte is not pregnant, and may have never been! Now we know that she has a vague reproductive disease.
