If a woman has to dress a v*gina, threaten to burn the White House, scream obscenties, talk about personal feminine hygiene and wonder why the associated products are taxed, on a public stage, then she has more problems than not having her "voice heard".

I heard some 'nasty woman' t-shirts sold to fund Planed Parenthood and some t-shirts sold to fund the march but what kind of monies were raised in the march to aid charities?

I've actually heard that whole spiel about negotiation before from my stepfather, who admittedly knows a whole lot more about business than I do, so I will concede that point. But do you really think negotiation skills are the only reason women are paid less? Be honest.

As a female employee, you learn your male counterpart makes less than you. How does that make you feel?

That the system isn't fair?

No. It would make you feel smart, empowered and your colleagues would give you a collective 'atta girl'.

Fins, can you give HT a Job

ht

Wow, Fins, based on your posts, I am sure you were all set to give "the gals" a first-rate deal and were totally prepared to treat them the same.

I grew up around business, and have operated businesses. More often than not, I've seen men doing the same job, not getting equal pay, because one negotiated a better deal than another. Lots of factors go into what someone gets paid. If I have an opening, and have 20 people begging for the job, that's going to affect what I offer. If six months later I have an opening and 1 person applies, and the work load is backed up, they have an advantage negotiating their salary. That's just capitalism. You gals need to learn how it works instead of crying and wanting us to give you everything. You claim you are just as good as us men, but then you want us to dumb down the system so you can participate, instead of you learning to participate at our level.

LOL. it sure seems to me that its pretty equal anymore, the 80% **** has been going on for years, you all need to get a new motto

ht

NO, Redfly, I am saying equal pay for equal work : if we do the same job, we should get paid the same (provided we have the same experience, do equal quality, work the same hours, etc)

Goodness gracious.

I was under the impression that the march was about President Trump cutting funds for abortions. Not only in the US that funds abortions thru out other countries.

Fins, people should just get paid equally. That would make things a lot easier for everyone.

So, are you saying a Hamburger Flipper at Micky-D's should be paid the same as a Duke Power Lineman.

Holy Crap-O-Laaaaa

So you want a communist system.

That's not how it works. In our system, you have the right to negotiate your compensation. If one person is willing to take less than you, why should you be punished by their lack of ability to negotiate? How about we stop raising pansies and let them learn how to negotiate.

Yes, Ole Sarge, why?

Sweetie, you should check your numbers. In 2016, the gap was closer to 4% than 20%. And there were several articles on women holding more top paying positions in 2016 than men. But if you want to close the gap completely, then you gals need to learn to negotiate instead of jumping at the first offer. Many studies have shown this to be the cause of any gap. Employers offer you the same package they offer the men. But men are more likely to counter and negotiate, getting a higher pay.

For the women saying they are satisfied with their place in society, good for you! But a lot of women aren't satisfied being paid 80 cents on the dollar to men for the exact same job. Why does it bother you that they want to stand up for women's rights? Your granddaughters may be thanking them one day when they get equal pay for equal work.

Pollock, Well Said!! I don't understand why people (men or women) can be satisfied with inequality. I also love when people say they're not closed minded. It's like saying "I'm not racist, but..."

Way to advance the dialogue. This issue affects us all. We all have women who are important to us in our lives.
