Award-winning author Sharyn McCrumb Book Signing Reception

Ms. McCrumb will have a book signing reception at 1pm at the Alleghany County Library, and a presentation on Appalachian culture at 7pm at the Alleghany Campus of Wilkes Community College. Books will be available for sale. Both events are free to the public.

McCrumb is best known for her Appalachian �ballad� novels, including The Ballad of Tom Dooley and The Ballad of Frankie Silver. McCrumb's Revolutionary War novel, Kings Mountain, is set in the area surrounding Alleghany County, where many descendants of the Overmountain Men still reside.
