Award-winning author Sharyn McCrumb Presentation on Appalachian Culture

Ms. McCrumb will have a book signing reception at 1pm at the Alleghany County Library, and a presentation on Appalachian culture at 7pm at the Alleghany Campus of Wilkes Community College. Books will be available for sale. Both events are free to the public.

Award-winning southern writer Sharyn McCrumb, best known for her Appalachian 'ballad' novels, including 'The Ballad of Tom Dooley' and 'The Ballad of Frankie Silver', will visit Sparta for two appearances on Thursday, June 18. Ms McCrumb will have a book signing reception at 1 pm at the Alleghany County Library, 122 N Main St, Sparta, and will make a presentation on Appalachian Culture at 7 pm at the Alleghany Campus of Wilkes Community College, 115 Atwood St, Sparta.

The evening will open with a performance by Alleghany JAM at 6:30 pm. Books will be available for sale. Both events are free to the public.
