There are mandatory reporting laws for some health care workers when it comes to child abuse. If they extended that to people with mental health problems, it might stop some from accessing guns. The main problem I see is that people will quit trying to get help for their issues so they don't risk losing their guns.

I don't think we need to screen for mental illness. Instead, healthcare professionals should be asking their mentally ill and suicidal patients if they have access to a gun. Doctors need to tell the family and friends of their patients that their gun could be taken at any time for harmful purposes.

I agree glitter. And I am unsure what testing could accomplish
But I know if someone has had a history of mental illness or violent crimes, those things might show up on a background check

I'm guessing if they are inept, they wouldn't pass anything.

I have been waiting for proof about gun law knowledge from two certain posters for an hour, and I have not had any luck

Do you not think, anyone capable of committing this level of crime, isn't inept enough to pass a psychological test, enabling him/her to possess a gun?
It's easy to require a test for inclusion, easy to passively comment about.
Realistic? Not really

Nope, not ridiculous at all. You only associate with gun owners that share your same ownership. You don't associate with all gun owners, especially gun owners that have guns that you think should be banned. You are a silent hypocrite

I have previously stated that there needs to be psychological testing done to prove someone is mentally fit to own a gun.
I think the people most afraid of that being a policy are the ones who know they would not pass the test.

That's a ridiculous question and you are just trying to be confrontational. I show respect and am a gun owner. I associate with both gun owners and non owners in my life.
Were saying a couple of posts back that all states require all gun sales have a background check? You know that's not true

If by "statistics" you mean your anecdotal evidence...and I bet you're also a 30 year smoker who never got lung cancer either
Violent, suicidal and crazy people have easier to access to guns when responsible and legal owners keep them in their home. If everyone buys a gun for protection it just makes it easier for people to carry out violence with them.

Elmo, have you ever bothered to go out and get a first hand perspective of a gun owner? If not, then you are a hypocrite wanting your opinion respected but not truly respecting the other side.
