Bandit, the NC legislature website says that 119 in the house voted yes and 49 in the senate voted yes. The house has a total of 120 member and the senate has 50 total members. The senate lists 1 N/V. Both had zero No votes. I don't know where the story that senate democrats walked out, but the official roll call says differently. Besides, if they were really against this bill, they should have voted no to make a point. But they didn't want to vote no because their constituents wouldn't like it.
