I am not pushing any particular agenda, actually, though I do generally favor conservative outcomes. What I do believe is that every generation should have the right to determine its governance. I see the idea of a convention as a time to reaffirm the best parts of what has made America great, a time to determine the limits of federal power in a fast changing landscape and a time when states are affirmed as important political institutions with powers and privileges that the federal government is not entitled to.
After amendments are proposed the ratification process is identical. 38 states have to approve. Any combination of 13 states can stop any amendment dead in its tracks.
It scares me to hear how badly George Soros wants a convention so they can rewrite our Constitution into a far left instrument. I don't believe its worth risking our Republic when there are other means to more safely amend it.
I think most folk would agree that the Constitution has been a huge success. Its existence is testimony that change should be considered and can be embraced. When it needs attention we amend it. The process works. If umpire had his way we'd still operate under the Articles of Confederation. I don't think anyone wants to go back
perhaps my observations are totally off base, but haven't the conservatives been screaming for about 6 years now that they want their country back, to adhere to the constitution and bill of rights, no changes wanted ....
