I propose an amendment to give southern states double representation in Congress to make up for all that suffering imposed by the carpetbaggers after the War of Northern Aggression.

So please explain how any amendment that has to be ratified by 38 states can lead to a runaway convention?

Convention is only a good idea if you want George Soros writing a new liberal Constitution. Your choice. I'm liberal but would rather keep the Constitution we have

Well, Umpire, how about you and I serve as North Carolina's delegates? What could be more fair and balanced than that?

Slavery was not dealt with sufficiently at the Constitutional Convention and look where that got us. A convention of the states is the only peaceful way to deal with today's needs to amend the constitution with a reliance on ratification to bring it to fruition.

Sparkling himself said it, government cannot be trusted. If a convention.opens, we will lose our Constitution to a new one, more to the liking of George Soros and the Kochs :( Pray that the convention idea dies on the vine.

Both can be addressed at. Constitutional convention, Srumpy, But you'll have to worry about what subjects are being voted on, instead of who is laying pipe to your wife

Gerrymandering was an outcome of the Constitutional Convention and a topic that just might need addressing in a way such as is being proposed by our leaders in Raleigh, to remove those elected from this process.

TERM LIMITS OR BALANCED BUDGET. WHICH OF THESE TOPICS DO YOU WISH TO CONVENE THIS CONVENTION?

If it had already been accomplished folk wouldn't be asking for it. Great numbers of people are frustrated by the constant barrage of federal rules and directives. Many others are frustrated by a great number of other issues. Government, as it is, cannot be trusted. It is not a party issue, but a power inequality issue. Once a person gets to Washington the rest of us no longer matter. Their interests become centered on staying at the helm and keeping the populace dependent.

What is a "GAVE IN PACE" there umps? What sparklin' is addressing is the general need to amend the constitution for clarity in this generation. No one is disputing that a topic like term limits is already well documented, but it may need amending. Since neither party has been able to accomplish this,it is time for a convention of the states to get 'er done!
