This was the first time ever that the state of New York started an investigation without a victim.
Going beyond that, though... prostitution, gambling, consensual p**nography, public drunkenness, homelessness, assisted suicide, and drug possession are all crimes with no victim, yet "half of all the people in jail are in for victimless crime," and "cost of dealing with such offenses... is held to be in excess of $2 billion a year."
If the new argument is that fraud should be legal, would you apply that same argument to all victimless crimes?

It doesn't matter whether Trump is guilty or not, it is the legality of the state and the procedures that was used. Did the attorney general campaign on getting Trump? Justice is supposed to be blind and you never pick someone and then find a crime. This was the first time ever that the state of New York started an investigation without a victim. The same attorney general is going after the NRA and the Catholic Church. Is that what you want? If your political views are different than mine, I am coming after you.

That's why Trump wasn't charged criminally, NY doesn't care about righting wrongs; they're just trying to bankrupt him.

This smacks of extortion by the state of NY, from the article; "In order to file an appeal, the courts require a deposit for the full amount of the damages or a bond covering the full amount. Even with escrow options, the call for cash or collateral can be enough to put some executives in a fetal position. It can be challenging enough for many companies drained from years of litigation. For Trump, the demand for $355 million plus about $100 million in interest could force a fire sale on properties to pony up just the deposit."

Uno, Still doesn't explain how the AG obtained Trump's financial records.

Might want to ask Weisselberg why he testified that the financial records weren't always accurate.

Uno, How did the AG get Trump's financial records to prove he violated the rules?

What is it that you say? "Enforce the laws we have."
Well that is what they did.

Uno, The judge who was asked by prosecutors to penalize Trump 130 million so he fined him over 350 million, in case where no one lost money...except Trump of course.

Uno, Because you're so certain the judge would have scrutinized the AG's position through a totally impartial lens?

Again, had what you suggest been an issue, any good lawyer would have stated so.

Uno, Let's look at that, under the sixth amendment... The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. So the AG has to show probable cause to get a search warrant or subpoena for those documents, but let's look at the facts, Trump secured loans from banks, Trump paid the loans back, the banks did not file a complaint and had no complaints with the transaction with Trump according to their testimony...so what probable cause did the AG use to get Trump's financial records.

Not sure. I'd imagine that the evidence was properly obtained, or a good lawyer would have stated as such.

I'm curious how the NY AG got Trump's financial records, you know Trump didn't give them to her, you know the bank didn't give to her because Trump could sue them if they did, so how did the NY AG get Trumps financial records?
