So thats why they wanted Trump to give back any documents that he was legally allowed to keep.

He did not know he had them, but he kept them secure in his open garage. He had moved these sensitive documents multiple times but he was unaware he had them. Makes sense (to Anti)

Here you go Anti
Now, a person convicted of violating this law can face up to five years in prison " making it a felony-level offense to mishandle classified documents under 18 U.S.C. 1924. Ironically it was Trump who signed this into law https://www.huffpost.com/en...b4f229/amp
Now stick your head back in the sand and pretend Biden is not senile , and didn't know he had the documents for at least 8 years

Giving them back after having them for years doesn't make it OK Anti.
I agree.
It was a felony for Biden to take the documents
Was it? The only thing I can find is this:
"Whoever... knowingly removes such documents or materials without authority and with the intent to retain such documents or materials at an unauthorized location shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both."
If the punishment can be a fine, then it's not a felony.
But since Biden turned them in on his own and cooperated with the investigation, it would be almost impossible to prove that he did it "knowingly."
and it didn't make it right because he turned them over years later. But if you want to give him a pass because he's senile...... ok. I never said anything about giving him a pass, I simply asked the OP what made them think that Trump had the legal right to keep classified documents and show them to his friends.
But since we've gone down this rabbit hole, it's pretty clear that Biden could never have been convicted of anything. It's not a free pass, it's just... the law.
I fully support the investigation, and had they decided that charges should have been filed then I would have supported that, too. I don't give free passes to our representatives for any reason, I have always said that they need to be held to a higher standard than other citizens.

President Joe Biden "willfully retained and disclosed classified materials" kept in unsecured locations after his vice presidency, which presented "serious risks to national security," a Department of Justice special counsel said in a report released Thursday.
I remember you insisting he had them by mistake......that used to be your argument.

Biden willfully took and shared classified documents...
What is your source that he "willfully" took them and "shared" them?

That's a good question Anti? Which of the classified documents was Biden legally allowed to take and keep for 10 to 15 years?
None! That's the whole point.
According to the prosecutors, "Biden turned in classified documents to the National Archives and the Department of Justice, consented to the search of multiple locations including his homes, sat for a voluntary interview, and in other ways cooperated with the investigation."
In comparison, Trump tried to destroy the documents and repeatedly lied to investigators.
And unlike Biden, whose lawyers happened to stumble across a folder in a box and immediately turned in... Trump had multiple boxes of classified documents that he knew about, and liked to show people... which you can hear in his own recording:
I have no idea where the OP got the idea that Trump had the legal right to do any of that.

Yes Jimbo I'm sure Trump would have kept them indefinitely and he has been charged. Biden willfully took and shared classified documents, kept them for many years and was not charged. So what is your point? Do you think I was OK for Biden to mishandle highly sensitive documents, and keep them in his possession as long as he did?

If no one but Trump knew he took classified documents, would he have kept them indefinitely or would he have voluntarily returned them? The answer is obvious.

And if you do take classified documents and no one ever asks you to turn them over, are you allowed to keep them indefinitely Just curious.

President Barack Obama's CIA Director, John Brennan, had identified 26 Trump associates for the Five Eyes to target, a source confirmed that the [intelligence community] had 'identified [them] as people to "bump," or make contact with or manipulate. They were targets of our own IC and law enforcement - targets for collection and misinformation,'" the Substacks reported. "Unknown details about the FBI's investigation of the Trump campaign and raw intelligence related to the IC's surveillance of the Trump campaign are in a 10-inch binder that Trump ordered to be declassified at the very end of his term, sources told Public and Racket."
