One way to assure that you don't get treated and viewed by a racial profile is to stop fitting the profile.

I have an old friend who used to be a nurse in one of the Myrtle Beach hospitals. She said that she and the other employees there DREADED black biker week. She said the emergency room stayed backed up with black folks who had been shot...beat up...and just plain mangled.

Oh for the love of Pete, what about those pesty lil Shriner's Conventions they have about 20 times a year....surely they must envy each other....those old men with buckets and I bet they bust each other up pretty frequently.....

As a side note, another bad time to go to MB is during spring break and after graduation. Teenagers and the newly anointed "adults" are as annoying as any bikers are. Constant cruisin' keeps the streets clogged and screws up the flow of traffic; they have little money to spend to support the shops and restaurants; they trash the hotel rooms and puke over the balconies to the streets below; loud music and all night partying; taking wizzes and making out in public; foul language that would make a sailor blush; drug deals out in the open. More than one has fallen to his/her death because drunks and balconies do not mix well. Far from a "family" vacation site at those times of year too.

And they seem to come in all colors.

As a matter a fact the last time I was there I saw alot of older folks and families. Just avoid it during the bike week and you'll be fine.

I like going to Myrtle Ive been three time in the past six months. From my point of view the beach is clean and I saw alot of families there. The moral of this story is don't go on Memorial Day Weekend.

Of course it will hurt their business. It's gotten to be a tacky, over-commercialized tourist trap anyway. Now the first thing that all the families planning vacation are going to think of is gang violence and shootings.

Myrtle Beach has turned into trash in general. It hasn't been a nice place to go in my opinion since the early 90's . Filthy beach , creepy people... I just don't feel safe there anymore no matter what week it is !!!!

All this at the start of the vacation season has to have been MB's worse nighmare,,,,,wonder what the effect it will have on business....decent folks may think twice about a visit....was probably a fluke thing,,,,,but has to hurt

Next Memorial Day they need to show some force. Bring in a few hundred National Guard Troops to patrol Ocean Blvd. Maybe the thugs will get the message.
