St johns wort for depression
Valerian for anxiety
Passionflower for insomnia and anxiety
You can get the Nature Made brand at the most wonderful store in the world (sarcasm)...Walmarks.
Check the dates on the bottle, you'll want the most fresh. It is a decent brand of supplements, for what you can get in this area.
Remember 4lions it will take longer for these herbal supplements to build up in your system...2-4 weeks depending on youl
You can also use the B Vitamins, especially B12 vitamins for stress, I think some are even labeled Stress Tabs. As we all know stress can cause anxiety and depression, insomnia.
Another thing that might help you too...is whenever you can...go outside and get the sunshine vitamin, that would be Vitamin D... it only takes about 15 minutes in the sun...everyday or 3-4 times a week, you'll need to kind of open your arms with wrist and inside of your arms facing toward the sun, also raise you chin to the sun , the area of your neck...these are the areas on your body that absorb vitamin d from the sun most efficiently!

Because anxiety is considered a Mental disorder you will need to see a psychiatrist for this. Most general and family practitioners have moved away from dispensing these medications. You doctor should be able to recommend a good psychiatrist to you.

How about St. John's Wort? And if that is good, where can I get a pure form?

I had a horrible time getting off Paxil, which I'm fairly certain I never needed to begin with. Celexa seems to work for several women I know.

Lion,I certainly sympathize with you. I personally have had generalized anxiety disorder for years. This is a real and life changing disorder. I suffer from really bad anxiety and depression ,this can definitely debilitating.. As far as medication. Your right there is a lot of different meds out there.I have been on them all... Here is my personal experience, But please know that I by no means am a doctor or anything like that..Always consult with your doctor . This is just my personal experience. And everyone reacts differently to meds..Paxil,,,,,,Worked great for my anxiety ,depression, and just worrying...The side effect for me was the weight gain 38 pounds, headaches, libido.. Going off this Med was very difficult... Brain zaps. Dizzy.
Celexia,, Was by far the best Med,It got rif of anxiety, helped wonderfully with getting rid of depression, great Med for me.However again the weight gain 40 pounds,,
Prozac is my old faithful.,,,It works great,,and no weight gain,,,The only thing is after taking for over 12 years It stops working,,,So Now I am trying to find something else,So I do understand how frustrating it can be When you are trying to live your life and your paralized with gripping anxiety and that black hole of depression that just sucks the life right out of you , making you cover your head and hide....Just know your not alone....
Here is a Med that I have been researching, they say it works great for anxiety,,,,Buspar.... I wish y ou the best of luck....Hang in there.Remember one day at a time,Sometimes 1 minute at a time,,, Be kind to yourself.....I am sorry this is so long. But I hope it helps...

Well, you have to do what you feel is the best answer....and it isn't a "one size fits all" solution.
I hope you will work closely with doctors trained in this field.
And please do not be discouraged if their first recommendation doesn't work out!
Best wishes.

Thank you blimey. I'm a Christian, and the anxiety makes me realize that Satan has a grip on everybody, it's just a matter how much we let him. Some days are really good and my faith has carried me far, but some days are just so bad that I think there might really be an imbalance. Depression hits me on and off as well.

And no.....to all those who will post in negative response....I do not suggest this as a cure-all for a person's anxiety/depression. But it is an vastly interesting book about peoples' response to horrific situations that they faced and how faith and positive thinking and informed thinking enabled them to overcome incredible obstacles.

I've been taking Paxil for 20 years or more, NEVER a suicidal thought. There again, it depends on the person's reaction. You may have to try several before you find the right one for you. I am sure if you read ALL the possible side effects of any anxiety medication, suicidal thoughts would be a possibility.

I totally understand unreasonable fears.
I shall suggest a book for you.
The Survivors Club: The Secrets and Science that Could Save Your Life.
By Ben Sherwood.

Yeah, that's another concern. Never have been suicidal either, just always doubting myself in everything I do and a lot of unreasonable fears that limit me in life.

Close family member used Paxil. Never before that was suicidal.
Attempted it after going on Paxil.

These are what I'm considering from my research
Lexapro Celexa Paxil
It seems like everyone that suffers from depression/anxiety is on citalopram (Celexa).
Pros/cons to any of those three are appreciated, or any other feedback in general. I would love to have a natural supplement, but again there are too many and the reviews are divided.

I wouldn't suggest Xanax unless it's a PRN. Daily use can cause withdrawals if you decide to stop taking it even if taken as directed.
You'd have to taper down 1/4 every 2 weeks or so to avoid withdrawals.
