But if you want to talk about the right to assembly, people should be ashamed for diluting our right by wasting it on empty gestures that do nothing. Standing in a parking lot in Boone NC does nothing to help race relations in parts of the nation that actually have race problems. But liberals don't want to accept reality. Reality is not subjective. So no matter how you try to spin it, just caring doesn't make a difference. Their gathering goes in the same category as yellow ribbons and support our troops bumper stickers

It would have been still odder, honky man, if they'd chosen to burn businesses across town, don't you think? Instead of looting 12 business there where the protests were taking place?

Where did I say anything about their right to assemble? I didn't. But leave it to umpire to make a comment that had nothing to do with the subject.

There you have it Gillian. People are grasping at straws, willing to believe any rumor they hear that supports the officer.
I believe that every officer should be equipped with cams at all times and if it suddenly isn't in working order when needed for evidence, the cop is fired. For his/her own protection and proof of a job done correctly as much as for the benefit of the perp.
Let's face it, there are cops that are ****y and have bad attitudes just like there are criminals, and people in the general public that are ****y and have bad attitudes. When the two sides come together, it never ends well.

I find it odd the first place to be looted and burned was the store the man robbed.

Josie? This person wasn't an eyewitness. Just someone from Wilson's camp trying to muddy the waters.

I would like to do away with cops getting carried away and starting confrontations that end with people being gunned down in broad daylight. Where their victims are then left to lie in the street for four frickin' hours.
Don't they have anything better to do with their time?
It was bad enough last fall when a young woman was handcuffed and arrested for the crime of jaywalking and not carrying id while jogging.

Now how did you reach that conclusion from anything I have said? I'm all for having police. But I'm not convinced that every dept needs to be militarized. Since they are part of the government.
Now answer the question I asked. Why does the policeman in Ferguson, MO need a vigil held for him?

Perhaps you would like to do away with all police and laws. How long will you last.

I don't need to have my life protected from a couple of teenagers walking down the middle of the street. Speaking from experience here.

I think we need to get all the facts in before we come to judgement . One eye witness account paints a very different picture of why the officer fired . Let us hope this comes out to the grand jury .

I agree with ump. Huh
They have the right to peacefully assemble. See US Constitution for reference.

What have you done by posting about this, Fins?
Jason drew the crowd by maintaining the website.
You posted out of a sense of your own superiority, your own arrogance.
You've not made a change in the status quo.
The college kids in Boone want to change the world for the better. I commend them for it. Black lives matter. Here, as well as in Missouri.
Next weekend they should hold a vigil in Wilkes County. Let's see how many people bother to show up.

The reality is, they felt the need to do something, where they were, with what they had to work with. If they didn't "care" they wouldn't have done anything...like you. You have no way of knowing whether their actions influenced someone to do more or not. That is the reality of the situation. Brother Fins.
